Whole Hog® begins with our signature Chain Reaction® blend with sugar, brown sugar, ginger, and other spices added to complement the natural flavors in pork. This seasoning perfectly balances the heat from our unique mix of chiles with a natural sweetness that brings out the innate flavors in pork. The secret to this spice is a sweet herbal heat from ginger which pairs beautifully with heat from the chiles and is balanced perfectly with the sweetness from added sugars.

We recommend getting started with Whole Hog® by trying it on smoked pork shoulder or pork ribs. It also tastes great on pork chops, pork tenderloin, and glazed carrots. This blend contains very low salt, which means you can use this seasoning without ever having to worry about over-salting. Whole Hog® is available in two heat levels. Our Original blend has just the right background heat to excite your tastebuds while our Uncontrolled blend doubles the heat to satisfy the heat lover in all of us while striking the perfect balance between heat and flavor.

Brooke, this is Mike H. While it won't get you EXACTLY the same thing, you can get a shaker of Uncontrolled Chain Reaction® and use it as a light base layer to get the extra chile heat and then go over the top with the Whole Hog® to approximate the taste of Uncontrolled Whole Hog. You'd just be missing a little ginger.

Good evening. Each product has different sodium levels per serving and each also has nutrition labels posted as pictures for each blend. For Whole Hog® the serving size is 1g (1/2 teaspoon) and that contains 40 mg of sodium so 1 teaspoon would contain 80 mg of sodium. Please let us know if you need anything else!

Absolutely! Whole Hog® is great on pork, of course, but also chicken, vegetables (ones with natural sweetness like carrots, cabbage/brussels sprouts, etc., and my mom swears by Whole Hog® on popcorn to make a spicy Kettle Korn.
